Simple Yoga Exercises For Health and Wellness : Today’s hectic life has reduced everyone to the chairs and tables, either in offices or at home for work-from-home. This has made it difficult for people to keep up with their health and as a result problems such as back problems, obesity, etc., are increasing day by day.
Therefore, here are five simple yoga exercises that can help promote health and wellness:
-
Mountain pose (Tadasana)
Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart, toes spread out, and arms at your sides. Keep your spine straight, shoulders relaxed, and chin parallel to the floor. Take a few deep breaths and focus on grounding yourself.
-
Cat-cow stretch
Begin on your hands and knees with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Inhale and arch your back, lifting your head and tailbone towards the ceiling. Exhale and round your spine, tucking your chin to your chest and bringing your tailbone towards your knees. Repeat several times, moving with your breath.
-
Downward-facing dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
From the cat-cow stretch, tuck your toes under and lift your hips up and back, straightening your arms and legs. Keep your head and neck relaxed and gaze towards your toes. Take several deep breaths, feeling the stretch in your hamstrings and calves.
-
Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II)
Stand with your feet about 3-4 feet apart and turn your right foot out 90 degrees, while keeping your left foot turned slightly in. Raise your arms to shoulder height, parallel to the floor, and bend your right knee so that it is directly above your ankle. Keep your hips facing forward and gaze over your right fingertips. Hold for several breaths before repeating on the other side.
-
Corpse pose (Savasana)
Lie down on your back with your arms at your sides and your palms facing up. Allow your feet to fall out to the sides and close your eyes. Relax your entire body and focus on your breath, allowing your mind to become still. Stay here for several minutes, or as long as you like. This pose can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.
